Waterways Museum - Wednesday

We are suffering the ups and downs of life afloat at present. The lower basin of the museum has a lock which gives access to the Manchester Ship Canal; this lock is the responsibility of Cheshire County Council.
The basin is the responsibility of BW. The lock is leaking, so the basin level drops. BW let water down to bring the level back up again.
The council and BW point at each other say 'It's their fault, not ours, and anyway a big boy did it and ran away' I wonder if they are both potty trained yet...

.....and talking of BW, why on earth is the paintwork on the trip boat in such a disgraceful condition? It is moored prominently immediately outside the reception area and cafe. Every visitor to the museum cannot avoid looking at it, what a poor first impression it gives.

The museum does have a lot of very interesting boats and canal associated items; we are taking our time and examining all of them carefully. We have been into the town of Ellesmere Port which has at least three interesting buildings, including one bearing the Burton Tailoring lettering.

I purchased a replacement CO alarm from Argos, and some replacement rubber mats for the rear deck from Wilkinsons - they will do for my 2010 spending spree.

we returned to the boat and had a look around another part of the museum, later spending a pleasant evening with Dave and Ann on their boat also moored in the basin.
