Church Minshull

Friday 7th May

A short day, only one lock and a few miles to Church Minshull. We love the view from the canal across the valley of the River Weaver as it meanders around the village. We took the circular walk through the Bluebell woods and down the bank. The Badgers had the developers in by the look if things; we have not seen as many setts for a long time, they extended over a distance of at least 300 yards and on a few different levels.

Onto the lane, over the bridge and into the village; past the Church and the next door pub, The Badger. On our last visit in 2006, the pub was closed for renovation as is the case at present. I wonder if it has opened during the intervening years?
Back towards the River Weaver and up the bank to the canal, the wind again strong when we reached the top and came out of the shelter of the trees.

The sunset was striking, the colours highlighting the cloud edges producing a wonderful effect. I may be able to upload the photos when the signal strength returns!
