A good blether

SUNDAY. The sun was streaming into the cabin as I awoke; I would select painting mode after breakfast. The wooden roof crosspiece at the inboard end of the cratch top plank had been primed and undercoated and was ready for topcoat. I should be able to maintain a wet edge if I started before the sun made the wood too hot. I masked up the roof and the job was done quite quickly. It was at least two minutes before the first midge suicide attack; there was one further before the surface dried.
Shark, converted from an ex BW powered mud hopper, tied next to us. A steel cabin had been added, by a person in possession of a good eye for proportion; a nice looking boat was the result. We swapped a lot of ideas and stories with the owners Julie and Tom. Whilst we were at Huddersfield, we had met a couple from Lemonroyd Marina; they saw us sitting on the grass bank by the visitor mooring and we were invited to look over their boat and drink some of their tea. It was a great day spent in the company of boaters, the time just flew by.

Weather very hot – a good day for drying paint.
