Monday is washing day

It had been decreed that today is the day of the washing machine and of the spin drier.
The engine was started and run for the requisite 30 minutes whilst both machines were in use. We then open up the engine covers (semi trad) and leave the tonneau cover in place; a rod upon which is hung the washing to be dried goes from one corner to the other diagonally across the void. Closing the cabin doors then produces a good drying area with the residual heat from the engine speeding up the process. Once the sun had come out, the temperature under the black canvas cover rises quite quickly. When we had returned from a visit to Tom and Rita who spent yesterday evening on Martlet, some of the washing was dry. A lot of boats were moving in each direction, with most of the lock operations being shared. We decided to wait until tomorrow and move off early, back to our preferred boating scheme.
