Of course it is raining, we are in Manchester!

SATURDAY. At Castlefields, Manchester
The 2008 trip thus far: 305 Locks; 560 Miles; 56 Swing\Lift Bridges. Bus pass journeys 20

I had decided to believe the weather forecast, starting early to avoid heavy rain.
What a silly idea; it was light rain as I moved off, and a few heavier showers before Waters Meeting where I made the right turn for Manchester, passing the EWS Trafford Park Freight Terminal.

I could not see anything as the rain was really heavy and visibility was down to a couple of hundred yards. I stopped under a bridge and stayed for a few minutes; when the rain had reduced to drizzle before continuing.

We arrived in Castlefields and Myra went off to get our weekly paper as I moored the boat.
We were close to ‘The Gnome of Rishton’, a boat that we had seen before on our travels.
After dinner, we had a wander around and ended up drinking wine and chatting to the crew of ‘The Gnome’. It was a lovely evening, we sat outside until past 10pm when we took our leave and headed for Martlet.

Weather – Heavy Showers, breezy, few sunny periods.
