Highly recommended - Jennings Cumberland Ale

TUESDAY. At Parbold, L & L
The 2008 trip thus far: 313 Locks; 587.5 Miles; 59 Swing\Lift Bridges. Bus pass journeys 21

This episode is a day late; there was insufficient signal strength last night to update the blog.

At Appley Bridge, the rain stopped about noon; we decided to try the Waterside Pub and Restaurant for lunch. Having bought a round of drinks and looked at the menu; we understood why there were no cars in the car park and only three other people in the bar. Although, after a slight language problem was resolved; the sparkler was removed from the tap dispensing Cumberland ale and I enjoyed a delicious pint.

We returned to the boat and enjoyed our ‘bitsa’ salad. Sitting with a cup of tea and letting the meal digest, it looked as if there was a good gap in the rain clouds on the horizon. We moved off and down the lock towards Parbold.

The weather stayed fine, we arrived and moored at Parbold. We had a wander around and collected a lot of reduced price items from the minimarket. The fish and chip shop looked clean and worth a later visit. Myra went to get fish and chips; they were very good.

Tomorrow we will move off and head down the Rufford arm after visiting the delicatessen.

Weather – Rain all day except a three hour dry period in the afternoon.
